Joy is a Charleston, SC native, who graduated from Converse College and the University of South Carolina School of Law. While in law school, Joy distinguished herself early as she was inducted into the Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity and the distinguished John Belton O’Neall Inn of Court. After graduating, she worked for several years at a civil litigation firm representing clients with catastrophic personal injury. She then opened her private practice in the Charleston area, representing clients for 12 years before joining forces with a law partner. Joy has successfully represented numerous clients in state and federal courts over the years, obtaining significant settlements and judgments on their behalf.
Joy has more than 20 years of experience providing successful client representation in the practice areas of personal injury, automobile accidents, workers’ compensation, and probate work. Among her awards, Joy has been named an NBL National Top 100 Lawyer, an AIPI 10 Best Personal Injury Attorney, Innovator Under 35, Outstanding Alumnae Award and Career Achievement Award.
Joy is a member of the South Carolina Bar and is active in the community, formerly serving as board chair of the Trident Area Agency on Aging, and board member of Disability Rights South Carolina, Inc. She most enjoys spending time with her husband Kenta and their children, Zoe and Olivia.
