Overture E. Walker is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and the University of South Carolina School of Law. While in law school, he completed summer studies abroad at the Honourable Society of Gray’s Inn in London, England. Upon graduating, Overture began his legal career as an Assistant Public Defender in the Fifth Circuit Public Defender’s Office in Richland County, where he was tasked with representing and protecting the rights of indigent clients charged with a variety of crimes. After a brief stint in the Public Defender’s Office, he joined the staff at the Office of the City Attorney in Columbia. Overture served as a City Prosecutor and an Assistant City Attorney for the City of Columbia, where he prosecuted criminal cases and defended the City against lawsuits.
Overture has been in private practice for more than 10 years, concentrating in the areas of personal injury, automobile accidents, slip and falls, workers’ compensation, and criminal defense. He has successfully represented criminal and injury clients while earning a reputation among his peers as a skilled trial attorney. He is admitted to practice in all of South Carolina’s Federal and State courts.
Overture practices in the firm’s Columbia office and is a member of the Richland County Bar and South Carolina Bar. He is active in the community, serving on the South Carolina Appleseed Justice Center Board and Columbia Housing Development Corporation Board. When he is not working or volunteering his time, he enjoys spending his free hours with his wife, Sharon DuPree Walker, and their daughter.
